The Definitive All-Inclusive Road Trip Checklist
So you’re preparing for a road trip and the packing is making you feel less than excited and a bit overwhelmed.
Or, you’ve finished packing and now have that brief feeling of anxiety as you pull out of the driveway and head down the road, looking at whoever is in the car and saying “Did we get everything?”

Packing Checklist
Lucky for you we have put together an all inclusive, detailed checklist for your next trip! This checklist is meant to be used for all types of vacations.
We have sectioned it off by category (i.e., clothing, kitchen, safety, etc.) which can be hidden or simply skipped over if they don’t apply to the type of journey you are embarking on!
Most importantly, the items on the list can serve as a reminder of the things you like to bring with you and may have forgotten.
Each category is broken down into detailed lists to touch on every type of item you may need when away from home. And the best part is, this list can start as a template as you tailor it to fit your personal needs.
Just download the list and edit it to make it work for you by adding, deleting, or hiding rows. Our goal was to make a checklist that works for everyone and the best way to do that is allow you to make it your own.
FREE Downloadable Checklist
You can find our FREE pre-trip checklist here! Download a copy to use each time you are preparing for a trip.
We have found that the best way to get the most out of this list is to use it as a guide when packing. Once you think all items are packed and ready to go, take a few minutes to go down the list and check off what you know you have. We can guarantee there will be an item or two (or more) that you inevitably forgot!
This checklist has saved us more than once and we are so glad we have it to refer to when planning, packing, and right before heading out the door!
Gear you don’t want to forget and items you may not think of . . .
1. Cookware
A GOOD set of cookware is a must and our personal favorite is this T-fal nonstick set. There are many different sets; it depends what works best for your needs, but this brand specifically is amazing when it comes to performance.
2. Plates & Silverware
Very important to not forget if you plan on not eating out of your hands
3. Coffee Maker
Our favorite way to make coffee on the road is using a French press. We find it is easiest to clean up and it makes delicious coffee. We use the Coffee Gator French Press and love that it is heavy duty and durable.
4. Water Jugs
No explanation needed, water is essential. These 7-gallon containers hold enough for a week long trip.
5. Jumper cables
You can never be too safe. These 4AWG jumper cables are long enough to reach if your vehicle is in a tricky spot.
6. Hatchet
Another must have in your tool kit, you never know when a good hatchet will come in handy so we ordered this Fiskars hatchet off Amazon.
7. Tire repair kit
It helps us feel at ease to keep this universal, heavy-duty tire repair kit in the tool kit when off-roading.
8. Emergency blankets
Something not enough people carry, again you never know when you might need to use it. These emergency blankets take up virtually no space.
9. Portable toilet
When nature calls you better have a plan, ours is having this “emergency” toilet around. This portable toilet is perfect because it folds down and takes up very little room when not in use.
10. Clothing
Always check the weather and pack for the “just in case”.
11. First aid kit
Always keep basics (band-aids, alcohol wipes, pain-relief, etc.). This first aid kit is simple and compact, and it’s better than having nothing. Most importantly, know how to use the tools you bring.
12. Toiletries
One of the most self explanatory but some of the easiest items to forget. Be sure to double-check the list to remind yourself to grab the soaps, toothbrushes, face wipes, medicine, etc.
13. Cameras
It didn’t happen if there are no pictures, right?? Check out the latest GoPro, which is basically a pocket sized dslr with 5k video and the ability to go anywhere.
That’s it for now!
Let us know if there are any items we missed that should be added!
